This is a cautionary tale for all Americans, both white and black. Last Sunday, a college couple, 22-year-old Adam Simjee and his 20-year-old girlfriend, Mikayla Paulus, were driving through Talladega National Forest when they were flagged down by a black woman having car trouble. If I tell you the good Samaritans may have been National Review readers, you can probably guess that one of them ended up dead.
...left NYC after 35 years because of Covid, but already the city was decaying under DeBlasio - filth, crime etc - it smells like a urinal. This past week, I drove back in for a few days...I like to take the subway because it is fast and cheap(er)...but it's true there are mentally ill people everywhere - mainly black. As I sat in one subway car, a black man with a crazed look in his eyes sat across the way from me - as the train proceeded to move, he got up, turned around and start to punch the window without touching it - like he was miming with an imaginary foe. Did I feel safe? - NO. I moved far away from him. He was about the 4th person in two days that was completely NUTS on the subway. When I was in NYC last Spring, I was taking a cab through Time Square, the taxi stopped for a light and as I looked out the window, a black dude walked right up to another black dude and clocked him - he passed out - it was as if I was watching a movie. No one helped the guy who was down, people just walked on by - and my taxi took off. What I'd like to know is what happened to the BILLION DOLLARS that DeBlasio's wife Charlese/Charlene?! was supposed to use for mental health care. NO reporter has ever addressed this issue, solved this mystery. And NO, I don't feel comfortable around (mostly) urban blacks ...they seem 'tamer' out in the countryside - but then again there are so few of them where I have chosen to live.
The USA Today article on this crime was written so, so carefully to make it sound like it was a group of white militia preppers, carefully citing an official who called the criminals "off the grid" and being sure to mention the gun-toting five-year-old. The average USA Today reader will read the article - without any photos, obviously, even though the Clay County sheriff's office had the mugshots the day before USA Today's publication of the story - and just assume it's white rednecks at it again.
The media is as much to blame as the Democratic Party is for the perception of who commits crime in this country. We all, black and white, suffer for it.

Someone interviewed a black Jamaican-immigrant cab driver in NYC, maybe 25 years ago, who said he flat out wouldn't pick up blacks in gangsta attire. He'd only pick them up if they were wearing business suits. It was a survival issue with him.

Whenever Democrats attain political power, they will do everything possible to set race relations back centuries while shrilly blaming Republicans for every racist sin imaginable.
I would feel sorry for the law-abiding black people who are unfairly tarred by the overwhelming racial disparity in crime statistics, except for the fact that they vote for Democrats. Often in numbers like 80-90%. And they've been doing this for fifty years or more.
When a group of people repetitively and consciously inflicts harm upon themselves and refuses to recognize their obvious mistakes, it's best to primarily think about protecting yourself from them It's within their power to make changes but they refuse to, and there's nobody else to blame but them.

I blasted Eric Adams last night saying that you can’t change who the criminals are and that they need to be locked up and he has to do his job, which includes calling for reform. Actually, you can change who the criminals are, but that will take decades and a return to the family unit and reducing out-of wedlock births. I’m the meantime, Democrats are well aware of the statistics you cite. They know damn well who is committing the gun crimes. Instead of introspection, they go after guns and they insist that the criminal justice system have a no bail, no jail policy, otherwise the prison population would be primarily one color. And, it won’t be brown, because Democrats have a hands off policy for illegals.
Santa Monica 2007 nice enough place to visit even with the some homeless down by the pier. 2022 a shithole by comparison. Hell even Whitey Bulger found refuge to hide out there long before BLM!

In 1996, Congress passed a bill which eliminated the existing main welfare program. That program was The Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program. President Clinton signed this bill into law. At that time, the illegitimacy rate among African American women was about 70%. The goal of abolishing AFDC was to reduce the number of poor single parent households dependent on welfare. A new program, Temporary Aid to Needy Families, replaced AFDC. This new program has not substantially reduced welfare dependence.
In 1994 I wrote a memo stating why I believed the AFDC program should be eliminated. The same arguments apply today. I wrote, in part; “In their editorial titled "Let's Outlaw Welfare for Unmarried Mothers", William J. Bennett and Peter Wehner stated: "Most of the proposals currently on the table miss the essential point of welfare reform. The point is not to ensure tougher work provisions and job training; rather it is to go after a system that fosters illegitimacy and its attendant social pathologies."
Charles Krauthammer , in an editorial titled: A legitimate way to break the Welfare Cycle wrote "And last year, presidential candidate and "New Democrat" Bill Clinton gingerly approached the idea with his "two years and out," welfare reform plan. But "two years and out", however well intentioned, misses the point. The point is to root out at its origin the most perverse government incentive program of all; the subsidy for illegitimacy."
Earlier in this same editorial Mr. Krauthammer wrote: "Toward the end of the seminar , I suggested that the only realistic way to attack this cycle of illegitimacy, and its associated pathologies, is by cutting off the oxygen that sustains the system: stop the welfare checks. The check, generated by the first illegitimate birth, says that government will play the role of father and provider. It sustains a deranged social structure of children having children and raising them alone and abandoned by their men."
Syndicated columnist William Raspberry appearing on Face the Nation voiced his support for Charles Murray's call for an end to AFDC. During the discussion Mr. Raspberry stated that everyone agrees at this point that the welfare system needs overhaul. He used an interesting metaphor to paraphrase the current discussion. He stated that there are two ways to address the problem, one can either place a fence around the edge of a cliff or one can send an ambulance to the base of the cliff below to deal with the wreckage.”
Since TANF has not solved the problem of welfare dependence, it needs revision. The solution I propose is to stop the welfare checks, free housing, food stamps, free medical care, etc. Tell young girls that if they give birth to a child, they are responsible for that child. The government will provide no support to the mother or the child. The illegitimacy rate will drop. The number of young men growing up in poor single parent homes will drop precipitously. Eighteen years from now the murder rate among young males will have been greatly reduced.
The money saved by eliminating these welfare programs could then be redirected to help those truly in need, the mentally ill and the homeless.

This past Christmas I was leaving the mall after not finding a certain gift. It was the middle of the day and I was empty handed and trying to remember where I parked my car. There was a white woman about my age and build in front of me. She tilted her head and could see me from the corner of her eye. She gripped her belongings tighter and made a bee line for her car. Mine was a few cars before hers. I got into my car and pulled out the parking lot. I'll never know if she realized it was me in my car or that I drive a nice car. Am a honest Christian woman who weighs less than the average American woman and would only hurt a fly. Yes I'm Black and it stung for a second that she thought I was following her and would rob her but I understand what we're like statistically and I can't blame her for prioritizing her safety.
