I am one of the New Yorkers who fled the state in 2020 and moved to a red state. At the time, I was annoyed at the arrogance and hysteria of Cuomo. In retrospect, he did me a huge favor, because the lockdown enabled me to make a move I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to make, and I love my new life in my red state.
The COVID lockdowns were a prime example of democracy giving us the government we deserve. A post-Christian, welfare-addicted public responded to a vague menace not with sober analysis, Stoic resolve or faith in God, but by surrendering its liberty to the State--who was all too eager to accept the surrender.
It's interesting that, much like those with humility and/or genius talent, those who are totally incompetent haven't a clue that they are (Dunning-Kruger Effect). The fact you would write a book detailing those traits is the cherry on the sundae. I am reminded of the guy who said New Yorkers were both prisoners and their own jailers (although he was probably only referring to NYC). Please stay in your blue states and don't fuck it up for the rest of us. I like knowing where you are.
DeRosa sounds like a contender to represent New York at the nationals for Karen of the year. Always tough competition in any blue state, but her record reads like she may have been the most dictatorial Karen in the bluest of the blue states. Separately, I always thought Andrew Cuomo was hideously ugly. Cuomo is solidly in gargoyle territory. Which makes those allegations of sexual harassment of his subordinates all the more skin-crawling. And credible. But is there any smug mug more off-putting than his replacement, Kathy Hochul? That is, until she opens her mouth and removes all doubt. You don't have to be hideously ugly to run for office as a Democrat, but apparently it is no disqualification.
The idiocy of the left, the literally fatal mistakes of the left, the tyranny of the left during COVID - none of this will ever get 1% of the coverage given to the "insurrection" despite being a thousand times more serious and destructive.
We don't even get an "Ooops! Our bad!", just the total radio silence the left is so good at when they need something to go away.
YES. That's why conservative media should talk about almost nothing else (assuming Heavy D is our nominee). Covid, crime and immigration. NOTHING ELSE.
It had nothing to do with "the left." Don Trump, elected pres. as a Republican, was the single reason for the success of lockdowns. If a democrat president had imposed lockdowns, this would've freed millions of Republicans to massively protest them. But since "a Republican" pres. ordered it, we were silenced. In March 2020 Don unilaterally decreed a virus national emergency and said children should remain home from school. That automatically threw tens of millions out of work. If we objected to being arrested for walking in the park, we were told "but this is what Trump wants." The entire "Republican" Party was also on board including rapid diversion of $2 trillion tax dollars to special interests for "virus" bailouts. Republican Rep. Massie asked Trump for a day or 2 to read the bill, whereupon Don raged that Massie should be thrown out the Republican Party for "delaying" the handout. In late April 2020 Don went on tv and viciously scolded Georgia's Republican governor for trying to open his state a tiny bit. Certainly Cuomo was a mass murderer but putting sick people in homes designed mostly for people with dementia and which actually had few "nurses" was also CDC "guidance" at the time.

Somehow it still remains the wisdom of hindsight for me. But Tierney did a good essay in City Journal about it, probably more on attempts to hide the true genesis. But your writing is always compelling and charitable where charity's due Anne. You know your stuff so well that your enemies are kept barking while the caravan moves on.
Though it’s written that bad, bad Leroy Brown was meaner than a junkyard dog, ol’ Leroy couldn’t hold a candle to AC. The girl’s got more fire and grit than a honey badger.
Thank you Ann for the follow up news and information re:crime. Some folks will do anything for their fifteen minutes of fame. As she attempts to clear her conscience publicly (for who may take the bait)and make some dough, DeRosa sounds dumb like a fox. Have only visited once, New York is a beautiful and vibrant city. Power in the hands of egoist thinking people is dangerous.Writing a book won’t change the story/make the destruction “go away.”
This is weird: I wanted to look at some negitive reviews of Ms. DeRosa's book, and while the chart said there were many, I was only able to read the Five Star reviews. Is this a thing that Amazon is doing? I don't know why Amazon keeps saying there are negitive reviews, but when I click on them, it only says that there are none. Weird.
Yeah, but that's not what the website said. What I read was, "Sorry, no reviews match your current selections."
Even though the amazon website said there were negitive reviews, but when I tried to look at them, I got that response: Sorry, no reviews match your current selections.
And that was for all reviews other than five star. I'm not being weird about it. I could get the five star reviews, but not even the four star reviews. Not judging, but it just seemed weird.

Florida responded with sober analysis! Wish that guy could be president.
DeSantis deserves praise for quickly relinquishing his COVID powers. He has shown himself trustworthy on domestic matters.
True. Ultimately, we let the shutdowns happen. I don’t have faith in the American public anymore, except in Florida.

Yup. Trump shutdown the country because a Fox News host (Tucker Carlson) told him to.

A thousand? 1%? You are a "glass half full" person.
Staffer books are always the WORST. Except mine. Mine would be good 🤣
Do it.

Most women are a disaster during a crisis.
Exhibit A, Lindsey Graham.
Exhibit B: Donald Trump and Tucker Carlson.
It is infuriating that no one will ever be held accountable for the COVID misery these people imposed on all of us.
THEY MIGHT BE ... if DeSantis is the GOP nominee.
..............and yet untold numbers have been indicted and sentenced to jail.......for crimes much less than what this "queen" committed.
And, unless it is all fiction, Cuomo/DeRosa covid totalitarianism was also responsible for up to 1000 nursing home deaths/homicides.
Nice legacy...direct responsibility for thousands of ruined lives and deaths but tossed to the curb being the political muse of an ass-grabber.

It's possible that some people gave it one star, but didn't have the time or interest in giving it a review.

Thank you Ann. I knew New York was bad, but it is worse than I thought.
