With all respect the perfect example of Republican grifter is ex-Rep Trey Gowdy, who yapped endlessly about Benghazi on Hannity (another useless grifter who never tires of talking about the Bidens) got hearings that produced nothing and parlayed his fame into a lucrative gig on Fox.

And was a nothingburger on immigration. I’m so glad Matt Gaetz called him out on the air.

Jim Jordan may be following in Gowdy’s footsteps, but that southern-fried fink set the template.

Another GREAT podcast Ann and Ryan!

Your comments about DEI caused so many (bad) memories about the early days of Affirmative Action to come flooding back for me, because there are so many similarities. My father was a policeman, which meant that ALL of my family's social circle were policemen (and in my case add a few classical musicians...thanks Mom!) and from the late 1970's onward two constant topics of discussion dominated 'all' social gatherings: 1) The politics of the day kept every cop's hands tied behind their backs, preventing them from doing the job they knew needed doing and how there was zero support from the Mayor's Office or the City Council, and 2) endless stories about top-scoring Officers who were passed over for promotion by extremely low-scoring minorities and became so disenchanted that they just stopped even taking the Sergeant's exam because they knew it would be a complete waste of time. So many top-notch Officers lost their passion for the job because not only was the outside world stacked against them, which was entirely expected and it's what they signed up for...but everything on the inside was stacked against them as well. They just stopped testing for promotions and quietly did their jobs as best they were allowed to as they waited for retirement because they knew it was their white skin that would prevent them from ever realizing their goals, and that would never change.

Seeing my Dad come home from work so utterly browbeaten, dejected and unhappy every single day...entirely as a result of the racial politics of the day...made me realize at a young age that, despite my passion for truth, Justice and America I didn't want to be a Law Officer because I didn't want to be completely unhappy throughout my career...even if by some miracle I could get in the door. Instead I went into the fire service, hoping that it might be less political and more fulfilling. Sadly, I found that the fire service was just as politicized every step of the way. When Seattle’s Mayor demanded that there be a black fire chief, they had to go down the list to the 37th on the scoring list. Same when they demanded women firefighters…they had to go down to the thirties at minimum and some years down to the fifties to find a woman.

What this means for the taxpaying public is that running a police or fire department becomes VASTLY more expensive…multiple layers of backup are called in where previously none were needed at all in order to get the job done, and poor command decisions are made on the scene resulting in a far greater chance for a loss of life. One naturally wonders how many decent, innocent citizens have died needlessly and how many police officers and firefighters were needlessly killed because their partners weren’t physically or mentally up to par or the scene commander made lousy decisions on what to do.

This DEI nonsense appears, in practice, to be the cancer of Affirmative Action on steroids, where in the early days of Affirmative Action many of the race-based decisions were kept secret but now under DEI they are entirely open about actively weeding out and destroying any white males employed at the organization.

I hope the new Republican majority can make some headway in rolling back some of this madness, but it will be too late for hundreds of millions of white men worldwide who have had their careers, lives, and dreams destroyed by this toxic and racist hiring jihad since the 1970’s.

Sorry to vent like this Ann and Ryan, but it’s a reflection of how important the subjects are that you speak of today. Thank you both again for the excellent podcast.

Thank you, Ryan, for pointing out that if one side wants to rule and the other side just wants to be left alone, the side that wants to rule will win.

It’s like a game of tug-of-war. If one side is pulling the rope and the other side is just holding the rope, it doesn’t take a genius to know in which direction the rope will be going.

Are Democrats giving Biden the shiv? Of course, they totally are. They know that running Biden again will make this a 'change' election. They are lusting after Gavin Newsome and everyone has seen the rest of the field from 2020. Dumping Biden means they can dump Kamala too. Does anyone in the US understand the disaster that Biden has gotten us into with this Ukraine proxy war with Russia? Does anyone in Congress understand that Ukraine is going to lose and that means the U.S. loses too? Not to mention the fact that Biden plunged the world into recession just to pander to green lunacy. And of course, to spite Trump. If you underestimated Joe's ability to fuck things up, you will eventually come around to understanding that you should have taken the 'over.'

I saw The View segment in question, and while yes Joy did say something to the effect of "we were just about to get him," she was initially quipping about what comically good luck Donald Trump has in constantly staying just one step ahead of everything. I don't think anyone would disagree with that.

As far as fame and child stars, I think it just highlights what happens in all of society. There are so many more names of child stars you could give who turned out fine. The ones that fall are notorious. But think of everyone you went to school with who was abused and had drug problems, etc. Same thing, but not notorious.

If anything child actors probably have the most legal protections and supervision by the state out of all children ensuring they have an education and their financial interests are protected, etc.

Trump also destroyed the Senate candidacy of Mo Brooks who would have been the best immigration restrictionist in the Senate. He would be there right now had Trump not pulled his endorsement because Brooks angered Trump by telling voters they also need to focus on other issues in addition to the 2020 irregularities.

Ann is high on the DeSantis sauce but if history is any indicator if he runs and wins he will do an immediate left turn towards the center. Any Republican president needs to massive increase the ICE budget and set records for deportations of illegal aliens during his four year term. The time for quarter measures and centrist/bipartisanship garbage has long been over.

Besides voting indie or republican, how can we get rid of the democrat party? Charge them for all the injustices they have placed on US citizens? I am so tired of the democrat/far left rhetoric that has done more harm than good.

Thank you Ann and Ryan G. for a contemporary discussion of some issues of the past (eg. affirmative action now wokism) and its tentacles within society. ESG and “governance” is just plain crazy. Celebrity versus civilian discussion interesting. The labor statistic Ryan mentioned (since 2008)—sobering in addition to the trends/relates to mental health. At times, I think I have lost my marbles🙃.
