“Yeah..but..you drink chardonnay!” That’s the best argument potheads have. One glass of wine does not cause impairment. A couple of tokes off a joint does.
With the ever-increasing strength of modern pot, universally-recognized as being far stronger than what was available in times past, it becomes progressively more difficult to argue that it is entirely benign. Those who insist that there are no long-term effects have not made a compelling case (Lefty potheads shouting you down and name-calling doesn't constitute a compelling argument, quite the contrary), and all of the latest studies point to there being long-term effects, with regular use.
The question then arises of why take the chance? The world is an increasingly-complex place, and so do you really want to take the risk of bringing a long-term cognitive deficit upon yourself when every ounce of your intellectual horsepower may be called upon to complete an important task one day?
If you find yourself "needing" more than a glass of wine or a shot of whisky on Friday night, it might be a good idea to take a good hard look at other factors in your life. But this is all terribly easy to say, I know, and it sounds preachy and smug...but have you taken a look?
Ask any board-certified Neurologist how well the brain can heal itself when it suffers damage or chemical alterations and then make your own decision. You're still free to do so, after all.
I smoke it now and then but never a regular user. I think we've all known a regular user and have seen how that works out. We all have known a Seth Rogan.
The most frightening incidents of reckless behavior and violence I witnessed in high school and college involved alcohol. Sometimes all it would take was one drink to cause a problem.
I don’t dispute that an association exists with cognitive impairments, but so many of the nation’s best scientists/engineers, artists/writers, and entrepreneurs smoke weed on a daily basis... it’s just an association, not causation.
The only elite circles that aren’t full of functional, successful stoners are law and government 🤮
The kids are all retardy today for other reasons (which also compel many to smoke)
I'm lucky. All smoke bugs my sinuses, and in the '80s when everyone smoked in the office, my eyes streamed continually. I don't like laws but, since they made them suppressing smokers, I have benefited. I say let the potheads smoke; their decline increases my stock value.
I've occasionally opted for the dispensary down the road over opioids (which my body cannot handle) when dealing with cancer issues in the past -- but some of my pot-head musician friends don't realize that they've remained in this dulled, child-like state, unable to have a substitive conversation on any issue other than partying, and 'the big jam!'....Even as a teen I noticed these things which is probably why I kept my distance - yet I'm glad for the legitimate medicinal effects it offers.
Also munchies. Seriously, though, I never saw the appeal of getting stoned. I'll add, however, that the 2 high school friends who got into car accidents never touched pot. They drank. One of them was eventually killed in a wreck. Just sayin'.
Even if there is a government or parental prohibition young kids are going to decide, in collaboration with their public school classmates if they will smoke pot. Another great reason for educational choice for parents and students. Parental responsibility cannot be delegated. This should be the defining issue for all Republicans. Abolish Government schools.
Every pothead I know, decades of using, are either chronically depressed, lazy, scatter brained, stuck and not copy material
A country that uses drugs and kills its babys will not survive long! JustSaying!

Once again, liberal states poison their constituents.
