Love it. Hope you’re right. As a guy, I must say that how she manipulates men really rubs me the wrong way. Whether it’s Willy’s willy or Trump‘s crowd sizes, she definitely knows how to do it. Then there’s her constant emoting and wildly “empathic” facial gestures. Yuck. Also, more importantly, there is simply no “there” there.

She has a Master's Degree in rubbing people the wrong way.

I don't want to be a Pollyanna but to add to Ann's point, I don't think the debate team analysis about making points and such is as important to voters and especially those on the fence. It is hard to say that Harris "won" anything with anyone who is not a politico or a pundit. Unfortunately, we don't have the SNL of even 2000 to parody Harris' like they did Gore back then. But she seemed off putting in her manner and anyone in touch with the reality of the last eight years must find at least some of what she said hard to believe. My final point- So, Dick Cheney supports Harris? The least liked VP is endorsed by the former least liked VP. Not something to hang one's hat on.

Cheney supports the people who called him Darth Vader 20 years ago. Amazing what politics does to people.

I frankly thought Trump blew it. He took the bait every time while Harris just smirked as he constantly fell for the trap which must have given her confidence. If you are poised and calm like Harris was and speak with authority you can get away stating any number of lies if you are protected by the press. There were just so many opportunities for him and she accomplished what she had to. Unfortunately an incompetent and unintelligent candidate appeared Presidential.

My takeaway was that both candidates probably pleased their base with their performance, but for any undecideds, it was a draw. Thus, it really goes back to “were you better off under Trump, or now, under Biden-Harris?”

No amount of debate blather lowers inflation, or crime, or illegal immigration- the 3 things that poll as American’s highest concerns, so most will throw this debate, out the window, and vote on “when was I better off?”.

Basically, no minds were changed last night.

I hope you are right. I do remember back in 1980 Reagan had to accomplish one thing with debate with Carter-reassure independents and undecideds that he was not a war monger that could not be trusted with nukes. He accomplished that. Harris had to reassure undecideds she is up to the task. My fear is that she accomplished that. I so hope reality hit them more than debate impressions

My thoughts exactly, if only Trump had a little of the delivery talent as Reagan!

I almost always agree with AC but not this time.

No matter what type of bait she tried, he consumed it, hook, line and sinker.

Whoever came up with the idea for her to recommend that people attend his rally is brilliant. It worked to perfection.

Ron would have annihilated her.

So would have JD. He is a terrible debator and so easily manipulated

Great take Ann, I think Trump started to unravel when J6 and his issues with the courts came up. He has to know that this will come up in the debate. He knows he's on enemy territory. He has to control himself.

If anything is certain, it is that last night’s debate proved, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Harris is more of a psychotic narcissist than Trump could ever dream of being.

Watching her tell obvious and absurd lie after lie with the smirk and self-assurance of a lunatic straight out Reservoir Dogs must have knocked Trump right off the balance beam.

The thought of living in a country that could be conned by such an obvious fraud is certainly a testament to the effectiveness of Randi Weingarten and the teacher’s union.

Yep, Kamala comes from a middle class family of university professors. Just plain folks!

I respect AC and hope her take is right.

Mrs. and I have been distraught about the debate.

“Look,” as Harris would say, there’s no dispute she’s a Marxist POS. But, none of the intellectual interpretation matters. Trump’s over-the-hill and should never have been the nominee, thanks to the Iowan FNC watchers. Trump is lazy and always unprepared. He approached this debate like a rally. His narcissism supplants reason and he is incapable of extemporaneous speech and retort without spewing his own form of word salad. He would have appeared less defensive if he had taken it to the moderators, but if you don’t know the facts, that’s impossible to do.

We bought it, we own it. Enjoy the fire sale.

Hate to agree with you but think this is correct. Enormously frustrating as he was clearly not prepared. His constant falling for the baiting makes it clear he does not learn from his mistakes and makes me think he will govern no differently the second time should he get a chance

It also is proof of how he was so easily conned and manipulated by Ryan and McConnell during his administration’s first two years when the GOP had majority control of both houses.

Tax cut, but no Wall. No infrastructure. No healthcare replacement. Carried interest loophole stayed put.

And your observation about change and repetition is spot on. Another dangerous trait is his inability to express contrition, particularly with the Covid response and his cry for praise.

Kamala was often smiling, but her smile didn't project "JOY." She was constantly mugging up and smirking to annoy and even to humiliate Trump. I already despise her for what she and Biden (and the cabal, really) have done to this country. Because of my bias, I don't really know how someone who lives under a rock, only watches MSM, and remains "independent" and undecided sees her.

I want to believe Ann Coulter is correct, and that unbiased people see through her performance and saw that she dodged questions while Trump answered. I want to believe unbiased people noticed the "moderators" weren't moderate in fact checking. They were actually rude to Trump. Trump mentioned being SHOT as a result of the comments made about him but Muir wanted to "move along."

I felt Trump lost the debate by not seizing opportunities at times. Maybe because I wanted him to walk over and strangle Kamala for her mocking gestures. He has my vote. But it's up to the "undecided."

As an aside, did anyone notice, can’t remember if it was Muir or Harris, a concession that China was responsible for Covid? Whether wet markets (racist!) or lab theory (conspiracy!) it was used as a cudgel against Republicans. Now finally it’s conceded it’s China’s fault

Harris looked like the gal in the Jardiance commercial: A smiling, dancing fool

Kamala held her own which was the only surprise last night. The debate likely won't change any votes. At this point the voting public is past its saturation point as the commentariat spins 24/7. Let's face it, they both suck!

It’s disheartening to read and hear so many Trump supporters wishfully claim that the debate last night won’t have much impact on the electorate. It tells you everything you need to know about the results.

No Trump supporter (and I am one) was saying that after the Biden debate a couple of months ago.

I read where some of my fellow Trump supporters are claiming that Kamala must have gotten the questions in advance, or that she actually had an earpiece disguised as an earring so she could be prompted by her handlers.

However, when JD Vance takes apart Walz with a cordial, disciplined, focused and fact-filled approach during their upcoming Veep debate, none of those people will say that Vance had the questions in advance or a secret earpiece.

Ah-h-h, this is not what I would call an astute comment. JD Vance is obviously gifted in real-time verbal jousting; this is frequently observed. However, I'm not aware of ANY instance of this with Harris, other than her debate with Trump.

No one said “gifted” other than you.

But Harris was clearly prepared for her task and hard work can often equal the results of gifts.
