And why (I think) you mistakenly like Trump
Jesse, you think you love Trump because you hate the media. Good reason! I salute you. But recall that the media attacked Trump for what he said, never what he did — like build the wall, bring manufacturing back to the U.S., deport illegals, end the pointless nation building in Afghanistan, avoid bombing foreign countries because Ivanka cried, tax remittances to foreign countries, end the carried-interest loophole, and not shut down the entire country because a Fox News host drove to Mar-a-Lago and said, MR. PRESIDENT! COVID IS DANGEROUS! YOU’VE GOT TO SHUT DOWN THE COUNTRY! (Luckily he didn’t have Ron DeSantis’s address.)
The media didn’t attack Trump for those things because he didn’t do them. His big accomplishments were: Cutting taxes and moving the embassy. “He” appointed loads of great judges only because Jared didn’t see what judges had to do with Israel — so judicial selection got turned over to the Federalist Society.
Trump governed exactly as Jeb! would have, with an extra helping of Whatever Israel Wants and Some Things They Didn’t Even Ask For. Maybe you would have said Jeb! was the most conservative president since Lincoln. I don’t know you, Jesse, but I doubt that.
You think Trump was good in direct proportion to how much the media hate him — generally a good rule of thumb! — but, in this case, you have to understand that journalists have a mass psychological freakout when it comes to Trump.
You can hate the media and also see that Trump betrayed his voters.
