Hahaha, NYT - the "Fascist" Won
In Italy, Giorgia Meloni's anti-immigration coalition crushes with 45% of the vote.
Any politician in a gleaming, successful, white Western county who objects to becoming Uganda will be heaped with invective, defamation and obloquy by the media. Then, the public is allowed to vote, and the anti-immigration position wins.
Maybe try calling her a “Fascist” even more next time, New York Times.
Results of Italy’s election on Sunday — blue is (anti-immigration) conservative, red is (pro-becoming Uganda) liberal:
Glumly reporting on Meloni’s smashing victory, the Times finally reveals Meloni’s actual positions — in the 27th paragraph. Literally, the 27th paragraph. Still, it’s a welcome change from just screaming FASCIST! FASCIST! FASCIST!
But to be extra sure that Meloni’s populist policies will terrify readers, the Times inserts editorial denunciations of those policies, instead of, you know, just reporting them:
“Ms. Meloni has called for a naval blockade against migrants and spread fears about a “great replacement” of native Italians. [She proposed] deep tax cuts that economists fear would inflate Italy’s already enormous debt, and a traditionalist view of the family.”
Ed.: Are you sure that’s enough to frighten Times readers?
Relax. Look at my next sentence:
“Despite the constraints of an Italian Constitution that is explicitly anti-Fascist and designed to stymie the rise of another Mussolini, many liberals are now worried that the right-wing coalition will erode the country’s norms.”
BE AFRAID! Meloni threatens to upset “norms.”
Let’s just hope Meloni keeps her promises, and doesn’t end up a big, fat loser, like Donald Trump and Boris Johnson.
In Italy, voting is done in person at a local polling place. Voting by mail is prohibited (except for citizens living out of country). And, AFAIK, Mark Zuckerberg isn't allowed to hire a private army to meddle in the process. So, I am confident this was a free and fair election. Viva Fratelli d'Italia!
Sounds like Italy doesn't do Ballot Harvesting or Dominion Smart.
