Ann keep telling it like it is. I work in midtown and when someone who looks like he doesn’t fit in is staring people down in times Sqr you know it’s time to get out of the way and hope it isn’t you the perps have targeted. The city is getting. Crazy

GREAT column Ann, and I hope that Zeldin does indeed beat the polls and in so doing demonstrate that not 'all' sane New Yorkers have fled the city.

I'm curious, among the New Yorkers that you're acquainted with, particularly the Democrats, have you seen a willingness on their part to acknowledge that there is indeed a crime problem or are they still firmly in the Hochul Pro-Crime camp?

Also, is the local NYC media acknowledging this crime tsunami or are they doing what legacy media outlets do best: bend over backwards to support the Dems by refusing to report news that might suggest their policies aren't working?

Baghdad Bob wasn't supposed to be an inspirational figure of professionalism for journalists to aspire to, but it appears that his legacy is precisely that. If the people aren't supporting Zeldin at this point I am not sure what will move them to support a truly pro-Law candidate. Does NYC have to be fully engulfed by flames, with people unable to leave their homes at all due to marauding bands of ferals before people begin to notice?

Sincerely wishing NYC the best...I'm hoping my pessimism is proven to be completely misplaced.

Plan: Get Tulsi Gabbard to read this article and take back everything stupid she said on crime when she ran for prez- then throw her on the ticket with Desantis. Her takedown of the Dem party this week is as good as any I’ve heard from Republicans lately aside from the great Desantis and Masters.

With that logic we wouldn’t have elected Trump.

I’ll take the politician point. But she was also running as a Democrat in Hawaii. I’d be interested to see specifically what anti-American anti-freedom positions you are talking about. Today she is America first on war, trade and immigration. I’m not saying we should run her for Senator or Prez. She’s smart and attractive and at least has some appeal to independents in the VP slot. I’d be interested to see who you think fits that role better but I asked and you didn’t answer 😬

We agree on the prez nominee! I have an idea for VP. You don’t. Once you have one we can compare!

“Do Anything, Say Anything” in action. With few, little or no consequences. I had to look up Doggerel in the dictionary. I understand its use as it pertains to the issue of lack of seriousness regarding crime, committing a crime of/at any level. Thank you for follow up on this issue Ann.

I wish people would sober up when crime gets worse, but the middle class people I know who moved into high crime areas still make up Jean Valjean style excuses whenever they get burgled, or their kids get harassed, or some young lady is violated. The Victor Hugo mind virus is hard to shake.

Only Republicans would hire an Orange County accounting firm to verify signatures in the recall of Gascon in Los Angeles and fail. I’ll just wait to see how right and influential your opinion is. With the left wing propaganda machine churning their message on channels 2,4,5,7,9,11, 13, NPR, MSNBC, CNN, FOX - yes Rupert Murdoch - Arizona goes to Biden , ALL SOCiAL MEDIA minus a few - GOOD LUCK! 90 percent their message availability versus 10. Nov 8 is a fascinating election to observe just to see how much kool aid has been downed. But hey if you haven’t recently been on the Maher show do it you’re a cool enough intellectual to give your message to the other side. I’ll pass not needed here.

I really appreciate Miss Ann not abandoning the NYC dilemma to hopelessness...I am probably considered one of the undesirables to NYC leadership...Before the insanity: I supported the arts; dined and socialized frequently in my favorite neighborhood restaurants; loved riding the subways and the vibrancy of life in the underground; functions at my club; strolling Madison Avenue et al for impromptu shopping fun; skating at the Sky Rink, etc. but to add insult to injury as if there are not enough unchallenged crazies, disincentives and threats to one’s personal security, the city is now trying to kill its taxi industry...combine this with screwing anybody who attempts self-defense and...Forgetaboudit...at least I am now saving a ton of money and involuntarily contributing to the depth of the Biden Recession...I just can’t believe that after puking through the Koch and Dinkins years we are back there again...of course who were the lunatics that elected mindless carnival hawker de Blasio to 2 terms 🤦‍♂️

I was in Central Park a few weeks ago and everyone seemed to be getting along fine, the rats, pigeons and the squirrels. It was in the day so maybe at night it gets a little crazy like the guy who verbally assaulted me after leaving the comedy cellar. When the first comic was introduced as a writer from SNL I should of known it might not be my night (:

Excellent article Ann, however what Giuliani managed to accomplish 30 years ago, won't be feasible today when everybody has camera in his/her pocket. Any roughing up of black perp would be filmed and blown out of proportion by our corrupt Media. So cops will prefer to stay on the safe side and not risk their pensions over some black thug.

The same thing is true in Philadelphia - for anyone familiar with former Mayor Frank Rizzo. "Speak softly and carry a big stick" - although Rizzo didn't exactly speak softly. However in NYC and Philadelphia and most other large cities, there's plenty of posted cameras around anyhow "for our protection" - so they can view who robbed, maimed or killed someone after the fact. None of these cameras protect people FROM crime because criminals wear masks (COVID, don't you know) and don't seem to mind being filmed. Was there less crime when we had less posted cameras? Not sure of the cause/effect.

I personally disagree because if he was actually tough on crime, the Democrat base would never tolerate his RACISM.

I have a different take on this. It's NYC, it's permanently f-ed up and nothing will save it. Ann lives there so I get it but for the rest of us, we don't care. They voted for it, they got it and they can STFU and live with it.

I don't care what happens in New York, California, Massachusetts, etc. Why waste your limited mental energies by waking up every morning and worrying about whether or not the people in the insane asylum are still crazy or not?

one thing I've always liked about Ann is that she often says the taboo truths that nobody else will voice. of course, others eventually catch up. it's always funny to hear/read some conservative bravely state something that Ann has been pointing out for years.

I followed politics for over 30 years and noticed two types of Democrats, the first type will honestly tell you how they'll intend to destroy America. Bill Deblazio, AOC & Squad belong to this sort. The second type will run as moderates (even conservatives) but rule as socialists. Former NYC mayor Ed Koch, Bill Clinton and current NYC mayor Eric Adams belong to this bunch of liars. In essence Democrats like Easter eggs, they may have different colors outside, but inside they're all the same.
