Slavery as a moral issue was only the pretext for the Civil War. The North was afraid they were being eclipsed economically by the South, with slavery giving the South an unacceptable advantage. THAT'S why they wanted to end slavery. Even Lincoln said (paraphrasing): didn't care about slaves; could free all/some/none the slaves; whatever kept the Union together. And even that was probably just bs; they just wanted to dominate the South.

Tucker Carlson has said the one thing that would cause him not to vote for Trump would be Haley as the VP pick. Saw a headline today where Don Jr., speaking of Haley as VP, said "Not on my watch." DeSantis seems to have taken himself out of VP contention by now echoing the establishment meme that Trump would be a dictator (as if we don't already have one).
I consulted with leading Democrats on this issue and, curiously, the consensus opinion targets the cause of the Civil War to be the little known fact that Lincoln and his Republicans were the agents of Alexander II of Russia (also coincidentally known as “The Liberator” for the emancipation of Russia's serfs in 1861).

The major ones being economic disparity, Federal v States rights cultural values and finally slavery. The first three had been disputes between the states since the signing of the declaration of independence. It was clear that slavery was not profitable since the cost of owning a slave, and also making sure that the slave did not disappear, ultimately was more expensive than hiring an individual. The problem for the south was there was less money in agriculture than there was in industry and production. Compromise of 1820 and the Missouri compromise of 1850 while involving free versus non-free states affected how the south viewed the north in terms of the power differential. other decisions put the nail in the coffin, such as the dread, Scott decision and the election of Lincoln in 1860. It is clear that Ms Haley must have missed her US history courses.
PANDERING to 13% of the population is the worst mistake this country ever made! I say this as a NON white person. NO other nation on earth has passed a law PANDERING to a small % of the population like this! My parents came LEGALLY from India where Muslims are 14% of the population. A UFO would land on the White House lawn before Muslims get a civil rights law in India! Africans have never done that either! Big mistake for it to happen. Blacks already have it a ZILLION times better here than they'll EVER have it in Africa!

I always thought the Civil War was caused because Mar A Lago was undervalued by a tax assessor. Who knew.

Slavery was not a cause of the war of northern aggression. I'm not a Haley fan but she's not wrong that the government was the cause of the war.
