A short check through "Google" gave plenty of history. Here is synopsis of the 2 men who were executed, and a little bit of their victims. "Say their names."
The last execution was a double hanging of George Ronald York (18) and James Douglas Latham (19)-- A multi-state spree killing involving 7 murders in 1961. Over roughly two weeks, they traveled through Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois, Kansas, and Colorado, committing robberies, carjackings, and seven murders (including victims in Florida, Tennessee, Illinois, Kansas, and Colorado). They were AWOL deserters from the Army.
Althea Ottavio (43 year old) and Patricia Hewett (25 year old): Two women from Valdosta, Georgia, killed in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 29, 1961 where they had traveled to watch the dog races there. York and Latham were specifically tried, convicted, and sentenced to death in Kansas for Ziegler's murder, who had been shot in the head THREE times, York shot Ziegler three times. The two AWOL Army soldiers received due process. Nothing occurred proving they were wrongfully executed. What is significant about the Ann and Kris Kobach discussed? The perps are black?
