There were a couple of particularly annoying remarks by “Miss Tegucigalpa, 2005” at the GOP debate Wednesday night, so I tried to look up the transcript on Google, typing in “FOX BUSINESS REPUBLICAN DEBATE TRANSCRIPT.”
I didn’t really care who had it, I just wanted the transcript. The first website served up by Google, as you can see, was "The Pavolic Today":
An odd choice to get first billing by Google, no? After all, Fox Business was the network that had actually sponsored the debate.
For reasons that will become apparent, I was soon wondering, WHAT THE F— IS "THE PAVOLIC TODAY"?
The answer, given on its “About Us” page, is: "an independent, woman-owned, American news organization based in Washington DC. Founded by Ksenija Pavlovic McAteer, a political scientist, author, and independent White House Correspondent covering the Biden administration ... The Pavlovic Today is guided by strong journalistic ethics."
Woman-owned - CHECK!
Immigrant founder - CHECK!
Lots of blather about "journalistic integrity” - CHECK!
So, naturally, Google put “The Pavolic Today” transcript at the top of its search results.
Should’ve gone with DuckDuckGo!
