CORRECTION, I may owe Reid an apology. I ridiculed her ground-breaking discovery on TV tonight — that guns can “literally” kill another human being! (Sure beats shooting bad guys with a squirt gun.)
On further reflection, it’s perfectly possible that her idiocy is not coming from her, but from people hacking her - a perennial problem for the MSNBC host.
Jealous of Reid’s mention in my Substack today, about an hour ago, a female commentator on CNN said: “I have a right not to be shot!” (I’m truly sorry I don’t know who she was. I would like to follow this Aristotle’s work more closely.)
How’re you going to enforce that “right”? There’s only one way: If you, or a Good Samaritan (the “good guy with a gun”) has a concealed weapon when a bad guy tries to shoot you.
Most people: I’ve never heard of a concealed carry permit holder stopping a mass shooting. Name one!
It happens ALL THE TIME.
BREAKING: The media lie, omit facts, and completely hide stories they don’t like, such as armed citizens stopping a mass shooter.
(Also, by definition, when a mass shooting is prevented, it’s not a “mass shooting,” anymore.)
Here are a few of my favorites:
THE DAY AFTER UVALDE: At an outdoor graduation party in Charleston, WV, a man, Dennis Butler, was speeding back and forth in the parking lot and was asked to stop because there were children at the event. He left and returned with an illegal AR-15. Weirdly (‘and this would have made Sen. Mazie Hirono very cross) he was not punctilious about obeying the law on “assault rifles.”
Butler had just started shooting at the children when a woman at the party with a concealed carry permit (that would have been denied by ANY Democrat) pulled out her pistol and shot him dead. No one was injured. (Other than him. Hahahaha.)

Here’s one that will sound eerily familiar — except for the happier ending! In 2016, a deranged 14-year old in South Carolina, Jesse Osborne, fatally shot his father, stole his pick-up truck, drove to the elementary school, smashed into the fence, entered the school, and shot a teacher and three students. A 6-year-old boy would later die of his injuries.
An off-duty fireman, Jamie Brock, armed himself and rushed to the school. Brock confronted the gunman, and held him on the ground, until the police arrived.
Or as The New York Times describes the heroism of the armed civilian: “The teenager was caught without incident after the shootings by Jamie Brock, a 30-year volunteer firefighter.”
Huh. How’d he catch him? With a net? A hook? Honey? The Times never mentioned that the fireman was armed.
(Have I mentioned that the media lie, omit facts, and completely hide stories they don’t like, such as armed citizens stopping a mass shooter?)

Last year, Demetrius Jackson started shooting at a crowd outside an apartment building in Syracuse, NY. The property manager pulled out his licensed 9mm handgun and shot Jackson dead. No one else was injured.

Celebrating July 4th “Chicago-style,” last year, a 33-year-old man shot at a group of people, hitting one woman in the head, killing her, riddling another person with bullets, and had just started in on his third victim, when a concealed carry permit holder, who happened to be passing by, shot the gunman and held him for police.

A year after a 21-year-old gunman shot and killed 20 people in an El Paso, TX Walmart in 2019, another mass shooter, dressed in all black and toting an AK-47, planned a similar attack at a Walmart in Weslaco, TX.
But this time, civilian John Allen saw the gunman entering the store, grabbed his .45 automatic, snuck up behind the gunman inside the store, and said, "You're not going to shoot anyone in this store today. I'm not going to let that happen."
Although furious about his mass shooting being thwarted, the gunman didn’t move until the police arrived. Then, he pulled out a second gun hidden on his person, and started shooting at the officers, who promptly killed him.

A concealed carry permit holder stopped a mass shooting in 2019 while at his dentist’s office to have his teeth cleaned. Shots rang out when a man angry about his pending divorce shot his wife in the head, then began firing at her co-workers. Dental patient/concealed carry permit holder Larry Seagroves pulled out his revolver and shot the gunman three times, holding him until police arrived.

In 2018, 24-year old Antonio Sanders — who’d just passed his anti-recidivism program with flying colors! — burst into a Birmingham, AL McDonald’s, wearing a mask and lit the place up. As employees ran to hide in the freezer, a father who was there with his teenaged sons returned fire, killing Sanders.
“He’s my hero,” an employee said. “Because I can only imagine how it would’ve went if he wasn’t armed. We might not be here having this interview.”
What about that positive report on Sanders from the anti-recidivism program? Quote from the report — before Sander’s attempted mass shooting:
Yes, while confined, Sanders shot up ZERO McDonald’s! Kudos to him.

We’ll end with another mass shooting that never happened, only because a concealed carry permit holder didn’t realize he was in a GUN FREE shopping mall, and had his weapon with him.
In 2012, a 22-year old masked gunman, Jacob Tyler Roberts, with no criminal record, opened fire with a stolen AR-15 in a suburban Portland, OR shopping mall.
[For those keeping score: So far, guns laws that would not have stopped Roberts include: a 21-year-old age limit, a ban on “assault rifles,” and red flag laws. On the other hand, perhaps he would have been stopped if only the mall had been designated a “NO MASS SHOOTING ZONE.” Sen. Chris Murphy will undoubtedly be proposing legislation to this effect later this week.]
Roberts had killed two people — when his gun jammed. At that point, concealed carry permit holder, Nick Meli, stepped out from behind a pillar, pointed his gun directly at Roberts’ head, but didn’t shoot because he saw people moving behind the shooter. Roberts slowly backed away from Meli, then ran to the basement, where he killed himself. No one else was injured that day.
The gun-grabbers response is to say that, since Meli didn’t actually shoot Roberts, there’s no proof that he stopped anything. Yes, the rifle-toting psycho got up that day, dressed in all black, donned a “Jason”” mask, and went to a packed shopping mall with a stolen AR-15 so he could randomly kill … two people.

Rock on Ann!
since it happened in Portapotty Oregon, did Nick Meli face any charges for having his gun with him??
