And the root cause ...
“There are some ideas so absurd that only an intellectual could believe them.”
I was recently hospitalized for a minor ailment. At one point a team of doctors and nurses were attending me. Lots of chatter and activity when suddenly one, a 30-something black nurse, mentioned, with a straight face, that she'd just read about a man giving birth. The two doctors present, btw, were Indian. One of the men present (I think he was a doctor) then chimed in that that would mean the "birther" had received a uterus transplant.
Remember the good old days when your doctor had a name like 'Smith' or 'Johnson' rather than some godawful unpronounceable polysyllabic monstrosity that sprains your tongue when you try to speak it aloud? And they got their degrees from actual legitimate university med-schools like Oxford or Johns Hopkins rather than from the University of Crapistan or something? Yeah, I remember those days too... I remember it well because back in those days they didn't screw up a simple medication that leaves you crippled afterward....
It's a mixed bag. My first doctor, circa 1954, got my mother briefly hooked on pep pills and eventually went away himself for the same reason. Later, the MD father of a friend of my sister went away on a drug offense. This was in a small college town, 16,000 population, rated as one of best places to live in the U.S., and as a blue-collar kid, I had almost no access to that kind of news, so God knows how much more there was. Then, when I was an adult living in a city 30 miles away, our family doctor, a guy we liked, went to prison for selling huge quantities of narcotics to one of his tenants, a pusher. A later family doc (the town's doctors' doc) told me I was crazy to think I had an aneurysm just because my parents both died of aneurysms and I could feel pulsations in my lower abdomen. Turned out I had two! Those four were "All American," and though I've had great experience with other "Anglo-Americans", my best doctor ever was Asian--probably Chinese or Korean. It's the standards and training that count, and we all know U.S. Education is as weak as our politicians.
I stand by my statement. I can pluck nonsense out thin air, make stuff up out of whole cloth & claim that it's true too, but I'm not going to do that to make my points; I don't need to. Facts are facts. And I stand by my statement. The American medical profession was STILL better back in the days when doctors were born & educated right in the good ol' U.S. of A., when we still had such things as "standards' (regardless of whether or not your mom was a pill-popper; different argument entirely.) And it is precisely because of all the decades of phony 'med-students' pouring into the country from craphole countries with lousy education systems that the standards HERE were lowered in the first place: To boost the DEI enrollment numbers, regardless of whether or not MooHamHead or whomever was qualified or not. THAT is the reason. I do not accept the tired, creaky weary old Liberal argument that 'We need foreign doctors because Americans are too stupid to learn medicine." That is & will forever be the biggest crock of horse-dung I've ever heard, no matter how you dress it up or whether you want to pretend that it's a 'Conservative' position or not. (Hint: It's not.)
So I stand by my statement. Your mom being a pill-addict changes nothing.
What an empty response. First, I'm not a liberal and don't support any aspect of DEI. Nor do I think we need foreign doctors (though I've met some good ones) or that Americans are too stupid for medicine. Second, the examples of bad doctoring I gave weren't "made up"--could you be more arrogant? I didn't give the positive U.S.A.-born stories because you didn't need convincing about that. Third, my late mother wasn't an addict. She had anemia, and was given pep pills by a trusted family doctor (they made house calls in the 1950s) instead of real treatment. She was on the pills for only a couple months. Fourth, there are two MDs in the immediate family, one of them in hospital management. So I've witnessed a balance of good and bad:
Good--DIL was first or second in her class at a large med school.
Good--DIL rejecting a possible new hire MD because he wanted permission to spend several days a month in a state known for illicit pill distribution.
Good--rejecting narcotics to a nice middle-class patient who claimed 10 out of 10 pain but was clearly relaxed and comfortable and had just been discussing his recent trip to Italy. I was a patient in the same room, witnessed the whole exchange between the patient and my DIL. Spotting such people is a major concern for good docs.
Bad--getting a call about malpractice (fatal, I think) by a staff doctor and concluding "we don't have a case, he should lose his license."
Bad--when asked during Covid whether his hospital was overcrowded, "No, we're empty, we're laying off nurses." How can you stay in business? "We're getting grants from the government."
Bad--Not all U.S.-born docs go to Oxford or Johns Hopkins (and big names are no guarantee of goodness--Hopkins was a pioneer in "trans" mutilation and a primary organizer with Bill Gates of Event 201, the role-playing practice session for Covid 19 in October 2019). Some U.S. docs go to crap schools either here or in the Caribbean.
It's amazing how someone can jam the greatest amount of words into the least amount of sense. Brevity, not verbosity, is the soul of wit, in case no one told you. Blather all you want, but it changes nothing (any more than it changes the fact that you had a pill-popper for a mom. Sad, but not my fault so don't blame me.) American born doctors were (and are) better than any foreigner that doesn't come from Japan, for the simple reason the educational standards are higher here than in Crapistan or wherever. My "response," it wasn't 'empty,' merely over your head. (Don't blame me if you didn't understand it or didn't want to admit it.) I stand by my statement, and all the horse-hockey you throw around changes nothing. So go to some quack graduate of Crapistan if you wish, so you can go bragging & virtue-signalling to your empty-headed Liberal friends about what a good person you are. Do as you like; America's a free country, and that includes people making stupid choices when it comes to picking their doctors. Just don't expect me to make the same stupid choices.
Have a nice day. Just keep popping those pills just like your mom & everything will continue to look rosy.
Thank you Ann. I am almost speechless. My takeaway: I plan to take two aspirin and call no one in the morning. Healthcare in the USA is absolutely frightening.
Stupid to blame the CEO, she is not the anesthesiologist. Ang guess what, there are huge numbers of Indian doctors in the U S as we don’t grow enough of our own here. What a crap column.
Excuses (especially weak & lame ones) will not restore ability to the victim. And that's all you're giving us: A bunch of weak, lame excuses. "Don't blame the CEO, don't blame the anesthesiologist, there are huge numbers of Indian doctors in the U S as we don’t grow enough of our own here," blah blah blah.... So according to you, NO ONE is to blame, is that it? Psh....what a crap cop-out....
Anyway, if we don't have enough doctors in the US it's because thanks to Affirmative Action policies the universities & med-schools are required to take a certain percentage of minorities (regardless of whether they're qualified or not) and reject the rest (even the qualified students) if they don't check off the right check-box. The result is, the students that do get in lack the brain-power & aptitude necessary to obtain a medical degree, they can't keep up with the workload of learning the material, so they either drop out OR they're graduated anyway even though they're not qualified. And the more-promising students who got rejected from med-school because they weren't the "right" minority, but who had the aptitude to make excellent doctors? They are cast aside & left behind. Result: A lack of qualified doctors; a problem created by the misplaced priority known as 'Affirmative Action.' A bad result from a bad government policy, that's all it is. So don't try to run that one by, because it just doesn't wash.
I'm sure you are correct. But there should be no press release, story, promotion, etc., that emphasizes how wonderful a hiring or promotion is, not because of merit, but because of sex, skin color, sexual desire, nationality, ethnic background, etc.
The slope (negative) of the line of decline of every aspect of medical care in America (and about every thing else) is ever increasing until I suppose we finally hit the bottom, reaching the state of VooDoo having barbarians from African jungles dancing around patients beds at John Hopkins chanting unrecognixable mumbo-jumbo, aka like the scene in the movie "The Deep". Eventually devolving into the scene in "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" where the witch Mortianna is consulted in her dungeon hideout using her gruesome blood-and-concoction divination.
Ah yes the wonders of a devolving of every major institution of our once great Western Civilization in the short span of 50 years. Which took our great forebears 2000+ years to create. Creating what is arguably the finest expression of human Civilization ever the exist on the planet. A new Dark ages of unimaginable horror. Atilla the hun, Hitler, Mao on Steroids.
There is more reason than that to get away from diversity. There are many reports of non white practitioners deliberately mistreating white patients. There was even one non white nurse deliberately neglecting white patients even killing them & bragging about it on the internet. One black nurse actually got prosecuted for it. If they are doing this openly how often is it happening surreptitiously? Scott Adams is right get away from them
A difference between First World and Third World. I have seen the diff, and developing countries are not Super Powers. This world (all), is going to be judged accordingly. What cultural, and most important medical disaster(s), awaits the average Americn Citizen(s) when, instead of of training our Doctors, Surgeons, nurses in our great medical establishments and hiring them to provide our once World Class Medical system, someone, (not the average American Citizen) we now import thousands of "doctors", "nurses" and other pseudo-medical establishment members from the Third World (known for its pristine heath care!!!) . A gradual, relentless destruction of our once World Class, Once in a Millena medical field. Anything or anybody you import into the country from the Third World is automatically inferior (why do we call it the "Third World"? "Medical Training" in the Third World does not remotely compare to say any of the top Medical Training institutions in America. A cursory examination of thousands of Utube Videos of the living conditions in Third World Hell Holes will give you the answer in spades.
Devolving our World Class Medical into something resembling Mortianna in the 1991 movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Or the VooDoo "doctor" in the movie "The Deep".
Any First World Country (which is the only equivalent on the planet of an actual Civilization) invites anyone from the Third World into their country, the gradual and inevitable deterioration of their First World Civilization is inevitable. Knew it. Import the Third World and become the Third World.

Gents, here are the updated Life Goal Benchmarks to achieve as rapidly as you can:
~Find an intelligent, non-Feminist, decent Lady to marry (Ann is an excellent but unattainable benchmark)
~Get into a career that will support a family while also being as immune to being eliminated by AI as possible
~Make enough money to be able to escape Diversity.
~Produce the largest family you can possibly support
~Find an older American male Doctor who was educated in the Pre-Woke, Pre-DEI era and achieved his licensure legitimately.
Keep it quiet over there!

The rot is deep, too deep to fix at this point.
I bet the doctor’s malpractice attorney will be Indian too. They stick together!
So will the judge, most likely, who will dismiss the case....

We need to “mix up” the meds on whoever thought it was a good idea to let Indian immigrants do our most crucial and delicate jobs. Look into the recent OHSU case where a young girl almost died because her Indian doctor, Ashok Muralidaran, installed her artificial heart valve UPSIDE DOWN and the hospital was gung ho on her dying so they could harvest her organs. https://www.oregonlive.com/health/2026/06/ohsu-told-13-year-olds-parents-she-was-dying-before-seattle-doctors-discovered-massive-mistake-17m-suit-says.html?outputType=amp
